Fitzgerald High School is the local high school in Fitzgerald, Georgia and is the home of the Purple Hurricanes. FHS serves students in grades 9-12. The superintendent is Mrs. Nancy Whidden and the principal is Mr. Randy Garret. Assistant prinicapls include Isom Harmon III, Dr. Gail Stokes, and James Wells. Fitzgerald High School is currently involved in the Title I Plan.[2]

Athletics

Fitzgerald High School has a well established athletics program which includes football, cross-country, track, baseball, softball, soccer, wrestling, competitive weightlifting, basketball, golf, competitive cheerleading, and tennis.

The athletic director is Coach Buddy Nobles and the athletic department staff includes Coaches Robby Pruitt, Tripp Stripling, Sultan Cooper, Lee Dorsett, Roy Bryan, and Steve Dennard,and David Vaughn.

Past accomplishments

At present FHS has won 4 state championship weightlifting titles under the direction of coach Mike Booth.

Under the tutelage of Angela Davis, the FHS cheerleaders have won Region titles for ten consecutive years and a cheerleading state championship in 2005.
